  1. @ JP
“Finally … just a parting request for maybe a little more respect among all of us? The gratuitous nastiness of some of these comments (stupid, clueless, dishonest, etc) is pretty depressing, and it seems to happen with a lot of BAT listings. It’s not good for the site or the brand, is it? I mean, do I really want to stop by the BAT booth, and take a chance on meeting someone who’s called me an idiot, or a crook? Is it really necessary?”
Thank you for this insightful angle.
I see the old car ‘industry’ has become a world of 2 extremes.
On one side you have those that are/were genuinely enjoying it as a hobby, willing to pay a decent/reasonable price for entertainment and fun, willing to pour their soul into what they love.
And on the other hand a now growing sector of profiteers, flippers and ‘grubbers’ (I could name a couple dealers right of the top of my head, who have had some negative response as a consequence), who really don’t care about the vehicle on hand or the industry as a whole as long as they double their money without getting their hands dirty, or contributing in ANY way.
And unfortunately THIS site has become the victim/reflection of such tendencies as well.
And if I cannot voice this here, the dark side has won………
  2. @ EdL
    You’re on it 100%,
    again !
    My experience as well.
But doesn’t that CA DMV love those fools to pay and pay and pay………..

Only 449 ever made and this is one of the first as it still has a genuine factory 1180 "S" VIN number.

On Aug-27-12 at 13:59:54 PDT, seller added the following information:
Only produced for one year, the 911 L was introduced in 1968. The L is the name stood for ‘Late mode'. Featuring the same 130 horsepower as the original 911, the 911L was the most expensive of the 911s since the 911S wasn't available in the US in 1968.

Only a total of 449 911L's were ever produced, and they all featured production dates after October 1967. Unfortunately, all of this led to both engineering and mechanical failures in the transmission and front suspension. Stuttgart, Germany engineers re-engineered the problem areas and constructed the remaining 449 vehicles and then released them for sale.

Considered to be a very rare find, the 1968 Porsche 911L came with a soft rear window targa. The 911L joined the updated 911 range in 1967 which later would enclude the T and S models. Now featured standard 5 speed transmission the original came with a 1991cc air-cooled engine. A semi-automatic version was introduced in 1968. The top speed of the Porsche 911L was 131 mph.

The Porsche 911L coupe 2.0 was considered to be a tuned-down US version of the Euro S model to achieve US emissions standards.
